On the banks of the Surinam River, in the midst of the pristine jungle of South America, lies Overbridge River Resort. A heavenly recreational resort reminiscent of a Carrribean beach resort, yet entirely surrounded by the mysterious and impenetrable Amazone jungle with Forest giants, lianas, palm trees and the overshadowing, majestic kankantrees, You’ll find yourself in the pure and pristine wildernis, with only birdsong, ribbiting frogs and the occasional blare of an ape interrupting the peace and silence. On the banks of the mighty Surinam River with her sandbanks, islands and rocks, still live the native residents; the Indians and the Marrons. Their life has barely been affected by modern culture. They still live according to their old traditions and make use of what nature can offer them.
Overbridge River resort is only an one hour drive away from Paramaribo, via a well kept asfalt road which winds between the hills and swaps, surrounded by the dense tropical forest which holds on the morning mist. At odd times you’ll pass a starteled deer, rabbit, fleeting swine or a colony of spidermonkeys crossing the road. In the swamps you can find fish such as the Krobia, Pataka and Sriba. In the river you can find the toekoenari, koebie, garfish or the trapoen. For savety of our guests we have secured the swimming area with nets.
